Reducing our dependence on fossil-fuels for energy is a cornerstone of the Government's strategy to limit climate change. In fact, by 2050, 50 per cent of our energy must come from renewable sources.

 

Coupled with the fact that we have obligations under the EU Landfill Directive to reduce the amount of bio-degradeable material going to landfill, AD offers a double win by achieving both these goals.

 

The use of food waste for power generation is virtually 'carbon-neutral' as the carbon released during the production of the electricity is balanced by that absorbed by plants during their growth.
